Press Release

Allan Stone Projects is pleased to present I Can See for Miles, on view from June 23 - August 12, 2016. Selected from the Allan Stone Collection, the exhibition will survey paintings and works on paper by a group of artists that reference the landscape. Spanning almost fifty years, the works will range in style from photorealism to gestural abstraction, pushing the limits of a traditionally representational genre.

The works on view differ in style, medium, and era, illuminating different approaches taken by these artists. The works do not seek to merely describe a location, but to capture the overall energy specific to a place or moment in time. The realistic works illustrate the artist's mastery of technique, while the purely abstract works communicate a subjective experience associated with that place.

Artists included in the exhibition are Robert Baribeau, Robert Bauer, William Beckman, James Bohary, Edward Smith Leslie, Robert S. Neuman, Richard Sheehan, Wayne Thiebaud, and Robert Valdes.
